ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION
All education is an investment in the future and environmental education even more so, because environmental education increases the likelihood that we will have a future worth living for all the generations of plants, animals and humans to come.
A sound environmental education results in sufficient understanding of the earth sciences and physics, chemistry, biology, ecology and toxicology to guide well-infomed decision-making about human impacts on the natural world at every scale from the individual and family unit to the school, community, city, county, state, nation and the world.
What is environmental education? Wikipedia defines environmental education as follows:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Environmental_education
While a formal environmental education is desirable, it is not necessary to have one for someone to act in a well-informed, foresightful, environmentally responsible manner. This is because a sound environmental education can be had from the local public library and the Internet for a fraction of the cost of a formal environmental education.
Below are books to inspire and guide one in that pursuit. For balance, we have included a book by an environmental skeptic, so that you are exposed to the most effective contrary arguments.
